Oneonta Job Corps Academy hosted the Teacher Ambassador Program for the second year in a row. Last year, teachers from Broome Tioga area partnered with their local workforce center to create an experience for educators to become familiar with programs outside the traditional college pathway. This year, CDO Workforce developed their own program and OJCA was able to include them as well. The collaborative efforts made by the OneStops and local schools has been wonderful for OJCA to witness (and be part of) because it enhances the ability for educators to provide multiple options for students leaving high school. The Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps took advantage of the recent beautiful summer weather to have a Student Appreciation Day. Students work hard training for jobs in the medical, office, construction, and transportation fields. A break gives them a chance to regroup and come back stronger. Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks Job Corps Student Human Resource Officer (SHRO) Rodrequies Thompson spent a few days this past week at the Oneonta Job Corps. ETR encourages employees to learn from their counterparts at other centers. Although there are monthly calls, nothing quite beats in-person visits where one can see how others do it.
