July signifies Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, highlighting the unique mental health challenges faced by racial and ethnic minority communities. This month addresses disparities in mental health care access and quality due to systemic issues like discrimination and socioeconomic factors. It promotes culturally competent care, reduces stigma, advocates for policy changes, and empowers communities with education and resources. By raising awareness and fostering action, it aims to achieve equitable mental health care for all. As healthcare leaders, we have the power to impact lives and help patients leave a legacy of giving. Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY) is proud to support LiveOnNY and its lifesaving mission to honor, change and save lives through organ and tissue donation. Thanks to the dedicated support of donor heroes and their families, healthcare professionals and the New York Community at large, LiveOnNY has been able to increase organ and tissue donation by 50% over the past two years, saving more lives than ever before. Karen is one of those New Yorkers whose life was saved thanks to the heroic act of a donor hero named Thomas.
