Transforming Communities Through Integrated Design & Construction Excellence
About us
Established in St. Louis in 1980, KAI Enterprises has grown into one of the leading and most respected design and build firms. We provide delivery-oriented building solutions nationwide with a diverse portfolio of experience, 150+ in-house multi-discipline professionals, and expertise in both design and construction delivery. More importantly, we are designers and builders out to make a difference in our communities. Through our integrated design and build strategy, we offer both award-winning design services (architecture, interior design and engineering) and build services (general contracting and program, project and construction management) all under one roof. Our goal is to incorporate these two strengths to deliver the best value, solution and people to achieve your vision, budget and schedule. Currently serving as the Executive Architect for the National Juneteenth Museum, KAI seeks out culturally conscious, and politically sensitive projects that will make lasting differences in the lives they touch. KAI was built upon a foundation of teamwork and collaboration and has since grown into one of the largest minority-owned firms in the AEC industry. For more than 40 years, we have been instrumental in transforming communities through its expertise in residential, commercial, K-12, higher education, healthcare, science and technology, aviation, mobility, sports and entertainment, government, water and community-focused projects. https://linktr.ee/kaienterprises

We had an amazing time at the 3rd Annual Building BIG: A Construction Mixer at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School of Innovation! This fantastic event brings together General Contractors, Subcontractors, and Suppliers to connect with the Dallas Independent School District Construction Services & Bond Office and M/WBE Department. It’s always inspiring to learn about upcoming opportunities and strengthen our industry bonds. We're grateful for the chance to interact with our friends at DISD and across the industry. Here's to building bigger and better together! 🏗 #TransformingCommunities #ConstructionMixer #Networking #Design #Construction

Exciting news from the 2024 National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Annual Business Meeting in Chicago! KAI President Darren L. James, FAIA, NOMA, NCARB, had the honor of participating alongside members of the 55 U.S. architectural licensing boards. Delegates came together to vote on new resolutions, hear key updates from leadership, and elect new officers for the FY 2025 Board of Directors. It was an incredible opportunity to reconnect with industry friends and collaborate on shaping the future of architecture. We can't wait to see the innovations and progress that lie ahead! #TransformingCommunities #NCARB #AnnualMeeting #Architecture #AEC

We love sharing when our crew volunteers for important and worthy causes. Several team members from our DFW office had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at the Women Leading Technology Sorority Building Playhouses event. It was a rewarding experience to help bring the playground home designs of young girls to life. We are proud to support such an inspiring cause and contribute to our community! #TransformingCommunities #GiveBack #FutureFemaleLeaders

So excited for the City of DeSoto and thankful for our partners at KAI Enterprises, Manhattan Construction Company, and the rest of the design and project team. It’s going to be an awesome amenity for their community.
Earlier this week, we joined the City of DeSoto at the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 74,000 sf Aquatic and Recreation Center (ARC), which will become the central hub of McCowan Park and a citywide venue for fitness and multigenerational recreation. The facility will support a diverse spectrum of activities, including physical fitness, athletic training, family aquatics, swim practice and competition, wellness programming and community events. 🏊♂️🏋️♀️ Congratulations to our client, our project team and our partners! #DesignABetterFuture

Play Ball! ⚾️ We had a blast today at the ribbon cutting for the KAI-designed YMCA Adaptive Sports Complex! We are beyond proud of the $5.2 million 5,723 SF project at the South County YMCA campus, which is all about making sports accessible for players with disabilities. The complex has some awesome features, including a field named after St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, a barrier-free dugout, synthetic turf field, accessible field and walking track, and a sensory-rich playground. This incredible project was brought to life by Cardinals Care, the team’s charitable foundation dedicated to caring for kids, who teamed with the Gateway Region YMCA, Boniface Foundation, and Miracle League. It’s another inspiring example of how we’re committed to transforming communities, one project at a time.
