We are so excited to share this "Supercut" of SAU 21's Portrait of a Learner! This video is the first of a new offering we're creating for districts: a "content toolkit" that provides even more flexibility, durability, and accessibility to their visual communications. A special thank you David Hobbs for his vision and enthusiasm to be the first! Here's how it works: we create a universal look (SAU 21's beautiful look was already done!) and build a reservoir of diverse content for them to publish over time. In this case, we also dedicated a day to shoot these interviews with SAU21's wonderful students, which will yield a treasure trove of additional material to reinforce their strategic goals. Already, other districts are doing the same to build visual content toolkits around their strategic planning, recruiting, and wellness initiatives. Let's talk about how we can build yours! #schoolpr #visualcontent #schoolcommunications #k12education

About us
At kartoonEDU, we make short, fun videos for school systems to share with parents and their students to learn about what’s going on in the schools. Informed parents and students make a more engaged school community. Parents want schools to do the best for their children, and schools want to do the best for their students. Knowing the how and why of what schools do gives parents the context they need to understand what their children are doing at school. kartoonEDU is produced by Dave Kartunen, a national-award winning broadcast journalist who focused his entire career on better governance. The idea was conceived with Win Treese, an experienced software engineer, writer, and technical leader with a background in explaining complex topics in understandable terms. Both are parents with a deep love of public school systems. Win continues to provide technical, conceptual, and content advice. kartoonEDU was borne out of a shared desire to help parents know more about what’s going on in their children’s schools.

Congratulations to Bill Burkhead and #Scituate Public Schools on their town election results, a nearly 2-to-1 margin of approval of their new elementary school project! #k12construction #schoolpr https://lnkd.in/en4ZyxVN

So happy to be working with you on this project!
Last week I attended Wilmington's Town Meeting to support Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand, who shared the progress of the Wildwood School building project in partnership with the MSBA and architects DORE + WHITTIER. In 2020, Wildwood was selected as one of only 15 projects out of 71 applicants by the MSBA, bringing significant grants for feasibility studies to explore various building scenarios and costs. With six elementary schools nearing the end of their lifespan, our team is working on opportunities to consolidate resources for more efficient facilities. Our team looks forward to continuing this partnership, aiming for project completion in 2028. Schools can and should share their beliefs and values when they present their budgets, especially when they ask their community for a operational override. This is just one of seven "pillar" videos we produced for Franklin Public Schools, who requested a $6.8M override this year. Franklin took the proactive step with Massachusetts' Office of Campaign and Political Finance to review our messaging before release. All seven of these "pillars" are available on Franklin's budget webpage, and were screened at a packed informational session with the town council and school committee. Many communities and districts are facing tighter budgets, changes in funding formulae, and other aggravating factors to their budgets. These short, visual communications are a cost-effective way to inform your voters about the issues. #schoolpr #educationfunding #schoolbudget

Kearsarge Regional School District's second installment in their three-part "Portrait" series is a special one. Winfried Feneberg, Michael Bessette and the Kearsarge team spent an incredible amount of time and intent into creating a culture of trust around professional development and teacher assessment. This visual communication ties together their portrait campaign while putting their professional educators at the center. It's one of our favorite pieces to date. #schoolpr #publiceducation #portraitofaneducator

Sending well wishes today to Dr. Joseph Baeta, Stoughton Public Schools, and their elementary school project team as they go before the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) for approval of their project scope and budget. This is one of two "supercut" videos we produced for the project, to inform their community in different languages. The MSBA process is high stakes and competitive. It's vital that districts get accurate information out about the process and transparent details about what it will entail. #MSBA #schoolpr #schoolconstruction #k12construction

Portrait exercises are incredible opportunities for districts to explore their mission, vision, and core values. But, as we like to say, "Make sure the juice is worth the squeeze!" Portraits should also brand your district, reinforce values internally and externally, recruit, and create a flywheel for your district's content engine. We are absolutely delighted with how our first Portrait kartoon™ captured the passion, care, and effort that Kearsarge Regional School District's team put into this exercise. Thank you to Winfried Feneberg and Michael Bessette for the seeing the potential here and their wonderful collaboration. And special thanks to Aaron Morgan for the beautiful visual effects! This kartoon is highly customizable to your district's portrait, branding, and messaging. We're already about to embark on another district's portrait, with the goal of creating a "content toolkit" with portrait materials to reinforce their effort well into the future! And we're not done with Kearsarge yet. More to come! #schoolpr #publiceducation #portraitofalearner #portraitofagraduate #communications

New London Public Schools is on the air with our magnet pathways registration video! When you build the original script in a modular format with a mind for durability and flexibility, it's easy (and cheaper)! Thank you Dr. Cynthia Ritchie! #schoolpr #schoolregistration #schoolcommunications #publiceducation
