July 5th, 2024 was the day I ticked a big green mark on my bucket list AND got to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my first book "Capital Market Revolution!" in that unique venue, the New York Stock Exchange. I was honoured to be invited by NYSE President Lynn Martin to ring the closing bell which amounts to 15 seconds of campanology, 3 bashes of the gavel and is bookended by the mystical experience of addressing guests in the Board Room, receiving a fabulous souvenir with an opportunity to soak up the atmosphere on the floor of the exchange. Plus selfies - as this is the digital age! The trip is sublime. It remains the equivalent of having a ticket to the finest Subway Series deciding match complete with a Taylor Swift / Blackpink concert for good measure! Led by Lynn & my brilliant wife Beata Young, the podium included many magnificent ladies amongst our guests. Moreover, I was truly touched to see so many illustrious figures from NYSE & ICE attending the ceremony. Thank you in particular to John Tuttle, Trabue Bland, Stefan Jekel, Jessica Froats. From afar, you were much missed Rebecca Mitchell, Jennifer Ilkiw, Josh King & Jess Tatham! Behind the scenes there is a fabulous organising team NYSE who make an incredible occasion a seamless experience. If I missed any names, my apologies: thanks to Alex_Politeio, Nicole Aellis, Taylor DeNapoli et al. Maria Wurtz your photos are awesome, it was a joy to work with you. In house, thank you Fernando Base, Jemille N., Nathalie Llanto and Rushellyn Angcoy for staying up past your bedtime to see your fantastic handiwork grace the plethora of screens NYSE. Likewise thanks to all the EI / DV / WonIT Digital team who helped make the day go so smoothly, including the indefatigable Recy Mae Mendoza who coordinated all our guests. This event was special not just because of our esteemed welcoming committee from NYSE in this most hallowed temple of commerce but also because of the wonderful group who could accompany myself and Beata. I was determined to avoid making this a pale, male, stale event and thus we had a cornucopia of achievers on the podium from every walk of markets. To reach the podium was quite a journey. The first time I went to #NYSE in 1989 it was not really shabby chic...it was just...shabby. The work undertaken by ICE thanks to the vision of Jeffrey Sprecher is incredible. A lot of exchanges maintain historic buildings and I applaud the way NYSE has been reinvented and rendered the perfect Wall Street location in the digital age: a beacon of light for the free markets which deliver prosperity, facilitating the growth of our companies and economies across the world. #NYSE #CapitalMarketRevolution #ExchangeInvest
