The global transition to clean energy may not be as costly as often portrayed, according to a new analysis from RMI. The report argues that many estimates overlook the decrease in fossil fuel spending, leading to inflated figures. RMI's analysis suggests that global capital spending on energy supply is on track to increase by 2 percent per annum, reaching $2.5 trillion in 2030, which when considering the overall economic growth, is not a significant rise. Check out the full report’s analysis on why projects aren’t as costly as they seem: https://hubs.ly/Q02y_VBp0 . . . . #Qmerit #QmeritCertified #Electrification #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy

Goldman Sachs Exchanges says that electric vehicles could make up half of all vehicle sales by 2035. While we are still in the early stages of transportation electrification, they predict that the industry will undergo a profound transformation in years to come. They predict that prices of EVs will greatly drop as a result of decrease cost of materials. Almost one third of the purchase cost of an EV comes from its battery alone. Battery costs are expected to drop by 45% from 2023 to 2025. EV batteries are also becoming more accessible as manufacturers are focusing on using less rare earth for the EV batteries. In 2023, Tesla announced they had cut heavy rare earths by 25% and plan to make all next generation models without using any rare earths. Renewable energy is on the rise in New Hampshire! Unitil Corporation has commenced site work on a 4.9 MW solar energy project in Kingston, New Hampshire, marking the largest project of its kind in the state. This project, featuring 11,232 panels on 36 acres of vacant land, represents a significant step forward in sustainable energy practices. It will be the first solar array owned and operated by a regulated distribution utility company in New Hampshire, showcasing Unitil's commitment to renewable energy leadership in the region. Set to be completed in 2025, this project will be constructed near an electrical substation, directly feeding into Unitil’s electric distribution system. This strategic placement will reduce the amount of energy the utility receives from the transmission system, enhancing efficiency and reliability. The project is estimated to generate approximately 9.7 million kWh of energy in its first year and is expected to average 8.6 million kilowatt hours annually over its projected 40-year lifespan.
