Program Director (Social Services)- Holocaust Survivor Program

Position Summary: Administers and manages the day-to-day operations of the Holocaust Survivor Program, oversees department budget, ensures provision of services, implements and maintains health and safety standards, and supervises a team of staff to provide a high standard of services to clients and the community at large.

Principal Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills And Requirements

  • Manages program according to agency and funders’ guidelines, and reports on program’s activities to Managing Director and VP of Holocaust Survivor Program. Develops, implements and maintains departmental projects, policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance and environmental standards.
  • Selects, orients and trains department staff. Develops and maintains knowledge about programs, benefits and psychosocial topics relevant for our specific client population. Disseminates relevant information to staff.
  • Develops, recommends and monitors program operating budget in consultation with managing director and VP.
  • Develops and enforces standards of performance. Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Evaluates performance of assigned staff, including timely completion of employee performance appraisals.
  • Provides oversight and supervision to social work, supervisory and administrative staff as applicable. Assigns cases and other work responsibilities to staff.
  • Develops and maintain systems for client and monitoring and record keeping utilizing client database. Reviews case records for quality assurance.
  • Provides casework/case management services to clients, including: assessment; information and referral; applications for entitlements and benefits; developing case plans; arranging for provision of services; advocacy on behalf of clients; and supportive counseling.
  • Conducts weekly staff meetings and attend monthly Directors’ meeting and other Selfhelp managerial meetings and training, via Zoom or other technologies as necessary.
  • Organizes, facilitates, and assists at social, recreational and other group activities and events for clients
  • Prepares monthly statistical reports as required. Tracks and provides additional data for grant funding and other reports as requested.

  • Represents the organization with funding sources and other individuals, agencies and organizations, and at community meetings, committees and inter-agency councils.
  • Participates in interdepartmental programs and projects. Collaborates with other departments to ensure optimum client care and implement agency-wide goals.
  • Adhere to organization’s standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including – but not limited to – Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
  • Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
  • Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance


Salary Ranges: $65,000 - $70,000 commensurate with experience.

Job Competencies & Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills And Requirements

  • MSW or related degree. LMSW preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in social services, preferably with older adults; supervisory experience; management experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with a basic knowledge of client database systems; general facility with technology
  • Proven strong problem solving skills; ability to multi-task; creative decision making skills; ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Superlative verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent client service and organizational skills

  • Business Office Environment with phone and computer use
  • Program specific: Home visits and out of office meeting attendance may be required. Must be able to use public transportation or other means of transit.
  • Hybrid schedule after successful completion of probationary period.
