Building Businesses

๐—˜๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ๐˜€ & ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—œ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ ๐—˜๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜ At just 17, my parents instilled in me a profound understanding of the value of each hard-earned rupee. I embarked on the journey of building Svatantra, a venture aimed at banking the unbanked in India. My decision to do it all by myself taught me the importance of earning every success. Securing a first client with a cheque of just Rs. 10,000, to our remarkable growth of becoming the second largest MFI in India - every milestone felt like a triumph earned through hard work and determination. Today I want to talk about the role of earned rewards in branding. An earned discount/reward is when the customer is required to put in some effort to be entitled to that discount/gift/product satisfaction. Evidence suggests that when a customer is involved in the process of acquiring a discount, it generates positive emotions and they have stronger motivation to buy it. Research shows that buyers like to be known as โ€˜smart shoppersโ€™ who have โ€˜earned itโ€™. It takes its name from a research study where participants who assembled furniture rated it more generously than those who hadnโ€™t put in the effort. In another example, The Renault Delphine campaign ingeniously tasked customers with identifying a flaw in the car's paintwork for a $500 discount. This shifted the narrative from "The company offers $500 off to clear old stock" to "I earned a $500 discount by spotting the imperfection." This strategy countered any perception of the car as a discounted or inferior model. Instead, customers saw it as a unique, brand-new vehicle available at a reduced price, preserving its perceived value and appeal. The key message here is that a truly outstanding product not only hooks users but keeps them engaged over the long term. It does this by establishing a deep emotional connection that leads to a strong attachment. And what fosters this attachment? I guess one way to look at it is the sense of effort โ€“ โ€˜the earned rewardโ€™. (Picture source: Pinterest)

It's not the same with money! Moreover, nobody can truly value money if they have an abundance of it. It's like traveling in a car every day and being obsessed with what it feels like to ride a motorcycle. You only learn the value of something when you don't have it. Valuing and experiencing something are two different things. You cannot experience something until you have it, but you can value it even if you don't have it.

dear ma'am, you are a very strong person, i think business is your hobbies, no doubt, you have achieved lots of goal, every thing is very appreciative. you are a icon for new generation and youth. we are all always put head your achievements and take decisions about. you work is not easy . but you are very strongly and very well doing in finance sector. today it is not easy to work in finance sector, because it is full unsecured business. but you are doing very well and you are also achieving growth. ๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿ‘Œ

Well said, Ananya! I commend your journey and commitment towards building Svatantra. It is inspiring to see how learning the value of money early on has shaped your path. The influence of your parents is profound and admirable, and I respect their contributions to your success and many others. Neerja Jiโ€™s community engagement and insights have been invaluable, and I have learned and benefited from her advice & values. The interviews of Mr. and Mrs. Birla, particularly with Ms. Simi Garewal, have offered profound life lessons to embrace. The IKEA effect you have mentioned is a powerful concept; the effort we invest enhances the value of our achievements, making them unique and meaningful. Keep inspiring us with your ambitious pursuits, just as you always do!
