"It’s jarring to see him in yet another courtroom for a sham trial held in secret and based on fabricated accusations." Today, Dow Jones CEO and Wall Street Journal Publisher Almar Latour and Wall Street Journal Editor in Chief Emma Tucker released the following statement after reporter Evan Gershkovich appeared in court to face an illegitimate charge by the Russian government. Statement here: https://lnkd.in/eQC8qDHJ #IStandWithEvan

Any media outlet that even uses the word “trial” in their headline (CNN recently chose to, for example) is giving credence to this sham mockery of justice. Evan needs to be returned home back to the U.S. as soon as possible.

Where is WSJ statement on returning all the Ukrainian children Russia kidnapped and don’t even get at trial. Or the prisoners of war that are starved to death in the similar fashion to Marxism concentration camps? WSJ will push us goverment to trade him for another war criminal that Russia will choose to send back.

It's not a trial. It's an excuse. I hope Evan can come home to Princeton soon.
