Very important subject, thank you Antje Barreveld for sharing this. Standard medications to handle the chronic pain has never been the solution for me, it decreases my quality of life more then the pain. With the introduction of digital tools for pain management real world evidence of the best treatment option for each individual can be obtained, evidence that hopefully insurance companies will listen to.
Insightful! Miss you hope all is well with you!!
Very informative
Great job Antje Barreveld! Hope all is well!
Thank you to our stellar #painmanagement team at Newton-Wellesley Hospital for all you do for our patients with #chronicpain. We all are working together to advocate for access in light of the many challenges doctors face. We are determined to make sure our patients get the best team-based pain care. As we write in our STAT opinion piece, when a treatment I recommended for my 89-year-old patient with high back was denied by her health insurance, my patient told me “I don’t know what right my insurance company has to practice medicine. They haven’t even taken the oath.” We will continue to advocate for our patients at NWH and partner with insurers, health systems and our communities. Together, change is possible.
