Person hit by train near Maidenhead Railway Station

Update 6.15pm: Great Western Railway has advised all affected lines have now reopened.


3.20pm: The British Transport Police has confirmed a person has died after being hit by a train near Maidenhead Railway Station today.

Officers were called to the station at 12.20pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A statement from the BTP said: "Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. 

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Great Western Railway said some lines have now reopened but disruption is expected until 4pm.


12.50pm: Emergency services are currently on the scene at Maidenhead Railway Station following reports of a person being hit by a train.

Great Western Railway has warned travel disruption is expected until at least 3pm between London Paddington and Reading.

A statement from the railway operator said: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been struck by a train, leading to all lines being blocked.

“It is necessary to bring all trains in the area to an immediate stop. Where we can, we will divert trains to run on other lines around the affected area.”
