There has been a lot of confusion in recent months when it comes to stimulus payments in California and what residents can expect from the Inland Revenue Service.
Some reports have claimed that there is money ready to be handed out to residents, whilst other reports say that is false and people should not start relying on this supposed stimulus.
One report claimed that a cash pot of 125 million dollars was sitting and ready to be distributed to residents in California, excluding the wealthiest people of course. Supposedly, 624,000 residents had not taken up the opportunity to take their share of the money.
Stimulus checks are not on the way
More clarity was provided in May by Fast Company, who explained that there is no stimulus money on the way from the IRS or from the State of California.
There has been a spike of websites claiming that more stimulus checks are on the way and, given anyone in America would be happy to receive a stimulus check, the rumors are being believed.
As Fast Company explains: "The federal Economic Impact Payments ended with the third check in 2021. Taxpayers who never received them could still claim them as a recovery rebate credit, but only for the tax year in which they were issued. 'The IRS is no longer issuing third Economic Impact Payments,' the agency clearly says on its website."
