Entering the 2024 NCAA football season, the Colorado Buffaloes are clearly among the most fascinating teams in the sport. Led by the loquacious Deion Sanders, the Buffs enter the new season armed with high expectations and a potential Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Shedeur Sanders -- Deion's son.

Though Colorado finished with a pedestrian 4-8 record in 2023, the program took steps forward following a dismal one-win campaign in 2022. Coach Prime's public visibility and cocky attitude has drawn all eyes to his program and what they could potentially achieve. That includes a rival coach with whom Shedeur clashed early in the 2023 season.

What did Nebraska's coach say about Deion and Shedeur Sanders?

Let's flash back to last September, when Colorado defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Folsom Field in Boulder. The 36-14 rout was prefaced by a war of words between Shedeur Sanders and Nebraska coach Matt Rhule -- and Shedeur continued to go after Rhule following the victory.

But Rhule has since changed his tone, and he is now awfully complimentary toward the Buffs ahead of the new season and a rematch on Sept. 7.

"You take Shedeur, Travis Hunter, all the players they have, and you take coach Sanders, they're going to come into our place as a really good football team with dynamic players that you have to compete with," Rhule told FOX Sports' Joel Klatt. "How good is it for that part of the country to have this game and to have it be on national TV at night? How good is it for the game of football?"

Nebraska was once a national powerhouse, but the Huskers have fallen on hard times over the past two decades. Rhule is the man tasked with returning the program to glory, and beating Colorado in a nationally-hyped game is a great way to achieve that. There is little doubt it is already one of the must-watch games of 2024.

"What Deion has done, in my opinion, is he's made football relevant to maybe people that weren't watching it," Rhule said. "People are going to tune in to see them and they'll have a chance to watch us too. If we play well, maybe people will have that same energy about us nationally that they have about them."
