A Few Things to Know

  • One of us? John Denver’s first wife was Annie Martell (subject of Annie’s Song) was from St. Peter, Minnesota, and the two lived together in Edina from 1968-71 before moving to Aspen, Colorado.
  • A Busy Guy: During his career, John Denver recorded 25 studio records in his 30-year career, including 10 records between 1969-75 alone.
  • With a lifelong passion for humanitarian and sustainability causes, John Denver focused the second part of his life on advocacy, with an emphasis on conservation. In 1978 he starred in (and chiefly funded) a documentary called Alaska, the American Child in support of a congressional bill classifying 95 million acres of Alaskan land as parks and wildlife refuges.
