Infectious joy, wry playfulness and astounding musicality all take the stage when vocalist/pianist Tony DeSare comes to town. And this year he’s cozying up to Orchestra Hall again with a heartfelt, dazzling, toe-tapping holiday show alongside conductor Chia-Hsuan Lin and your Minnesota Orchestra. A Few Things to Know
- This mid-week concert, featuring holiday classics and Great American Songbook standards with a Sinatra-style swing, is the perfect way to warm up your holiday season and take a moment to enjoy yourself amid a busy time of year.
- Tony DeSare has been sweeping audiences off their feet since his debut release, Want You, 20 years ago. Since then he’s appeared at the top of the Billboard jazz charts and appeared with bands and orchestras all over the world.
- In addition to being a dynamite singer, songwriter and pianist, Tony DeSare is also a composer and has composed complete scores to the films Nanny Nightmare, A Welcome Home Christmas and Love Always, Santa.

The Grammy Award-winning Minnesota Orchestra, now in its second century, ranks among America’s top symphonic ensembles, with a distinguished history of acclaimed performances in its home state and around the world; award-winning recordings, broadcasts and educational engagement programs; and a commitment to intentionally build concert programs to feature more works by composers of color, exploring music both contemporary and historic. This past fall, Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård began his tenure as music director.
Chia-Hsuan Lin, who was appointed associate conductor of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra in 2016, began her sixth season with the Richmond Symphony in 2021 and was recently named the interim music director of the Contemporary Youth Orchestra of Cleveland. She enjoys frequent guest appearances around the world and made her Minnesota Orchestra debut in February 2020, conducting a week of student and family concerts, and returned this past April for another family concert program. In July 2022 she is leading five Minnesota Orchestra outdoor concerts, including an International Day of Music concert as part of the opening weekend of Summer at Orchestra Hall.
