2001 Brown Brothers Chenin Blanc

Victoria, Australia

Morrisons, down £1.50 to £3.49 from Nov 18 to Jan 5

You will have to get your skates on if you like the sound of this one. Brown Brothers is one of those rare family-run Australian wine companies in which each member gets on and does what they do best. Just as well that there are three brothers to split the workload. New World chenin blanc is an underestimated grape that, given the right conditions, thrives in a sunny climate; curious, given that its original stronghold is the cool northern Loire. Understandably, New World chenin blancs have more punch than the Gallic originals, a useful attribute given the full-on flavours of modern cuisine. Enjoy this sweet, grapey, musky, spiced peach and pineapple-layered white
