Distinguished physician who was a world authority on porphyria

One of the most influential physicians of his generation, Professor Sir Abraham Goldberg was remarkable for the breadth of his achievements, excelling as a clinician, a researcher, a teacher and an administrator.

Regius Professor of the Practice of Medicine in the University of Glasgow, 1978-89, and one-time chairman of the Committee on Safety of Medicines for the UK, Goldberg had an influence on the medical profession that extended from Glasgow’s hospitals throughout Britain and worldwide.
