Kilmarnock could pull off an ambitious move to land Derek McInnes as their new manager. The Rugby Park club has held talks with the former Aberdeen boss that could conclude today.

McInnes, 50, has been out of management since leaving Aberdeen last March. He spent almost eight years at Pittodrie, winning the League Cup in 2014, never finishing outside the top four in the Premiership and qualifying for Europe seven seasons in a row.

Kilmarnock were relegated last season after 28 years in the top flight and sacked Tommy Wright two weeks ago after four defeats in five league games. They sit fourth in the Championship, five points behind leaders Arbroath with a game in hand, and chairman Billy Bowie is set on securing an
