Andy Murray should be suspended from ATP tour, says French tennis official

A French tennis official has called on the ATP to suspend Andy Murray from the tour after the British No 1 withdrew from the Open13 in Marseilles.

Murray decided to skip this week’s tournament, where he was scheduled to be the No 1 seed, to recuperate after the best part of five weeks of intense tennis, which culminated in defeat by Roger Federer in the final of the Australia Open a fortnight ago.

On Friday, Murray confirmed he would rest for a further week before returning to the fray of the ATP Tour, however, tournament organiser Jean-Francois Caujolle has accused the world No 3 of lacking responsibility and going back on his word.
