Australian Dry White Wine

South Eastern Australia

Tesco, £2.99, or buy two for £2.50 each until Nov 19

I have tasted dozens of cheap Aussie whites and this good, gluggable 12 per cent alcohol South Eastern Australian offering from a huge wine-producing area that covers all of South Australia and a large part of New South Wales too, gets first prize. No great detective work, given that Tesco has Phil Reedman, Master of Wine, on the spot, ready to snap up all the best Australian wine before any other British buyer gets there. It is made from a wide range of white grapes including colombard and chenin blanc, and what I liked about this soft, floral Aussie white oozing with juicy, grapey fruit and a fine spicy, citrussy finish
