Why?
Having got in a massive sulk over some immense injustice recently meted out by a London bar, I retreated to the comforting embrace of the gastropub. Renaissance Pubs, which owns it, is a group of old friends who own five other south London pubs, including The Tommyfield in Kennington, which I’ve had earmarked for a visit since I moved into the area.
What was it like?
Google Maps deposited us a few streets away, which was utterly confusing, but the sight of the huge marzipan confection on Rosendale Road left us in no doubt that we’d found pub Mecca.
