You’ve got to hand it to David Davis, our man in charge of Brexiting from Europe. While he was out and about thumping the tub in favour of leaving the European Union, he was also very gainfully employed on the board of a copper company in Germany, the country that the Brexiteers see as the dark heart of the EU.

According to the Commons’ register of members’ financial interests, Davis pocketed slightly more than £37,000 from the Teutonic-sounding Mansfelder Kupfer und Messing in the 12 months since July last year.

He spent 15 days on his copper manufacturing duties, which gave him a daily stipend of about £2,500. Let’s hope he took his salary in euros.
