Captain Howard rallies the faithful with a victory rap

MICHAEL HOWARD roused party supporters at a 1,000- strong rally yesterday to try to reverse his defeatist message of last week, and performed his own version of a rap.

Last week the Conservative leader was talking about being “2-0 down at half-time”, and “sending a message to the Prime Minister”. But at his final big rally before election day he put specific dates to actions he will take when, more than if, he gets to Downing Street.

So confident were his three warm-up acts, that they spoke to the crowd of Tory supporters in East London as if there was no doubt Mr Howard will win on Thursday.

Theresa May, the Tory spokeswoman for the family, said: “On Thursday, the campaigning ends, but on Friday,
