Crushing loss for Connacht

SARACENS didn’t scrape through to the last eight of the Heineken Cup; the Aviva Premiership leaders smashed the door down. What could have been a close, tense encounter against Connacht with both sides playing for a place in the knockout stages, turned into a rout.

The hosts ran in 11 tries and the score would have been far higher if Charlie Hodgson had not left his kicking boots at home. The former England man missed nine out of 13 kicks at goal yet he deserves praise for the way in which he steered his side home with ball in hand.
