CSR discovers fresh hope with Nokia’s market share recovery

CSR rose more than 4 per cent on hopes that a recent recovery in market share by Nokia could mean strong second-quarter trading for the Bluetooth semiconductor developer.

After holding inquiries among mobile operators and retailers in Europe, ABN Amro believes Finland’s Nokia — a big CSR customer — is regaining share in 2.5G and 3G handsets at the expense of Motorola. Didier Scemama, analyst, says that development should help the company to win market share from Broadcom, a Motorola supplier. Further, Mr Scemama thinks CSR’s second- quarter trading will come in at the top end of forecasts, with the company likely to predict a strong third quarter. CSR rose 52p to £12.81, with the FTSE 250 up 106.3 at 9,303.5.
