The Dalai Lama has apologised after the circulation online of a video that shows him kissing a boy on the lips and inviting him to “suck my tongue”.

The bizarre incident occurred at a public event in February in Dharamsala in India where the head of Tibetan Buddhism lives in exile.

None of the people present in the film appear to react negatively to the interaction between the Dalai Lama, who is 87, and the boy. However, after the clip went viral online, it attracted many expressions of outrage and disgust.
