Dundee had their brief revival halted in painful fashion as Motherwell escaped from Dens Park with three points.

Fresh from having won at Tynecastle on Wednesday, Jim McIntyre’s side had their sights set on securing consecutive victories in order to enhance their hopes of Premiership survival.

But they were dealt a sucker-punch when David Turnbull converted his decisive 60th-minute penalty. It was tough overall on the Tayside club who will revert to the foot of the table should St Mirren get the better of Hibs this afternoon.

“Our lack of an end product came back to haunt us because we didn’t deserve to lose,” bemoaned McIntyre afterwards.
