Fever for Facebook, the social networking website favoured by students, is spreading like a virus. Even Westminster’s denizens are enjoying the online hubbub. Despite Sir Menzies Campbell’s senior years, his unofficial fan club, Proud to be a Minger, boldly claims that he was first of our three party leaders to grace the Facebook pages.

But as fast as our leaders are cottoning on, so are their imitators, and a number of faux profiles have sprung up.

Tony Blair — noticeably without a genuine profile — has three impersonators, one featuring a photograph of him looking particularly fetching and windswept.
