Divorce lawyers dig the dirt on Facebook

Facebook is a goldmine of damaging data, incriminating messages and pictures and now plays a key role in America’s divorce and custody battles, lawyers say.

According to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), 81 per cent of its members have used or faced evidence in court plucked from the social networking site, or from others such as MySpace and Twitter. In one case, a woman denied in court that she smoked marijuana — but posted partying, pot-smoking photos of herself online. In another, a husband denied anger management issues but posted on Facebook: “If you have the balls to get in my face, I’ll kick your ass into submission.”
