Tim Westwood, the former BBC Radio 1 DJ, has been interviewed twice under police caution in connection with five alleged sexual offences spanning 34 years.

Westwood, 65, who is credited with giving rap and hip-hop music a platform in the UK, is said to have been questioned by Metropolitan Police detectives on March 15 and again last week.

Scotland Yard did not name the individual but said that the alleged offences took place in London between 1982 and 2016. A spokesman said: “Police are investigating five reports relating to allegations of non-recent sexual offences allegedly committed by a man. A 65-year-old man was interviewed under caution on March 15 and April 4, 2023. There has been no arrest.” Westwood has been contacted for comment.
