Dozen may have witnessed gay murder

A homophobic attack in which a man was beaten to death may have been witnessed by up to 12 people, police said today.

Jody Dobrowski was attacked shortly after midnight on Saturday by two men who shouted abuse at him as they carried out the prolonged assault on Clapham Common, South London.

Mr Dobrowski, 24, a bar manager, was still alive when police officers found him, but died from his injuries in St George’s Hospital, Tooting, at 10.30am on Sunday.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Scola said that the attack was “a terrible murder”. He said: “Officers who are used to dealing with these sorts of injuries were shocked by what they saw.
