Faith and uncertainty

Sir, I remember once hearing an Oriental story of three blind men trying to describe an elephant. The one on its flank said: “It is a great wall of wrinkly leather which curves away and does not touch the ground”. “No, it is not,” said the one standing by a leg. “It is a wrinkly column standing firmly on the ground.” “Nonsense,” said the one standing in front. “It is like a great thick hosepipe waving about, with two smooth and polished handles.” And so they began to argue and to shout at one another.

In the context of the eternal and the infinite, are we not all in some degree blind?
