Fashion legacy of Sex Pistols creator Malcolm McLaren ‘being erased’

Malcolm McLaren may be regarded as the godfather of punk for creating the Sex Pistols but there are claims that his impact on couture is being erased.

The rock empresario — who brought together Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious et al in 1977 — died aged 64 in 2010. And now his partner during his last 12 years has accused a vintage fashion website of marketing fakes as being created during a partnership with his wife, the fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.

Young Kim, a Korean-American Yale law school graduate, has claimed the site, Byronesque, is promoting clothes as having been designed by McLaren and Westwood when they are in fact merely inspired by authentic designs.
