On the face of it the serial technology entrepreneur Ben White had everything. Tens of millions of pounds in the bank, homes in Notting Hill, west London, and in the countryside and three young sons he adored. But in 2019, it fell apart.

One of White’s sons was battling an eating disorder that caused him to have a fit in the middle of the night. Not wanting to wait for an ambulance, White, now 51, drove him to the hospital despite being “smashed”: White was battling demons of his own, an addiction to prescription painkillers and alcohol.
