Can it be a coincidence that we’re witnessing an outbreak of floor-length capes, tiaras and golden decorations in the spring of 2016, or is something in the collective fashion unconscious paying homage to Her Majesty the Queen in all her splendour? It’s a thought that has floated past my field of vision more than once as I’ve been scribbling the word “regal” at Alexander McQueen, Valentino, Saint Laurent, Gucci and Dries Van Noten recently. If so, well, hurrah!
