Independent tribunal to rule on bullying in Commons is a win for all staff

The House Commission’s decision to implement a new fully-independent Parliamentary Tribunal, to determine sanctions on bullying and harassment complaints in the House of Commons, is a seismic change and a victory for all the hardworking staff in parliament.

To illustrate the magnitude of this change consider this: there has never been an MP appropriately sanctioned for a bullying or harassment complaint against a member of staff in the House of Commons. This is not because MPs are the last bastions of proper workplace conduct, but because the system has utterly failed to deal with complaints raised.
