Roberto Mancini has not given Joleon Lescott any reassurances about his future at Manchester City and the England defender is open to leaving the Barclays Premier League champions in the transfer window next month if the right offer becomes available.

Lescott would be willing to rejoin Everton — whom he left in acrimonious circumstances to sign for City for £24 million in August 2009 — should the Merseyside club be in a position to fund partly his £80,000-a-week wages. Aston Villa are also thought to be monitoring his situation.

The centre half, who has 18 months left on his existing contract at the Etihad Stadium, has started only two of City’s past 13 matches after a still unexplained fall from grace under Mancini, who chose
