Kate hospital hits back at hoaxers over prank call

There were “corgis” supposedly barking in the background, and what even the perpetrators admit were some terrible attempts at an English accent.

Yet somehow two Australian DJs managed to broadcast details of the Duchess of Cambridge’s medical condition after making a prank phone call to the hospital where she is being treated for acute morning sickness.

Last night King Edward VII’s Hospital in London issued a filmed statement which accused the Sydney radio station of journalistic trickery and suggested that it may have broken the law.

Two presenters from 2Day FM had got past the hospital switchboard and, under the implausible pretence that they were the Queen and the Prince of Wales, persuaded a nurse to give them a detailed update on the Duchess’s condition.
