My struggle in life has been to afford housing in a market fuelled, over many years, by the dual-income couple. It was the advent (in the 1950s and 1960s) of dual-income couples that led to spiralling house prices.
I have long campaigned for employers — and society generally — to accept that quality home life should not be the prerogative of families and couples.
