Michael Olise rejects Chelsea and signs new Crystal Palace deal

Chelsea have joined the race to sign the Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson after Michael Olise snubbed a move to Stamford Bridge in favour of staying at Crystal Palace.

A fee of £30 million has also been agreed with Newcastle United for the sale of the left back Lewis Hall, who had previously agreed a new six-year contract to stay at Chelsea. That deal could go through today.

Chelsea are understood to have activated a £35 million release clause in Olise’s contract but the Palace chairman, Steve Parish, revealed that the 21-year-old has signed a new four-year contract at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea have turned their attention to 22-year-old Johnson, one of a few names on the club’s shortlist, and have held initial talks with Forest
