Mr Turner, Birdman and Boyhood lead London Critics’ Circle nominations

The London Film Critics’ Circle announced its awards nominations today, with the Mike Leigh’s biopic of the painter, Mr Turner, leading with seven mentions, followed by Birdman, starring Michael Keaton, and Richard Linklater’s 12-year epic Boyhood.

The ten listed for film of the year include Birdman, Boyhood,The Grand Budapest Hotel, Ida, Leviathan, Mr Turner, Nightcrawler, The Theory of Everything, Under the Skin and Whiplash.

Best actor includes Benedict Cumberbatch - The Imitation Game, Jake Gyllenhaal - Nightcrawler, Michael Keaton - Birdman, Eddie Redmayne - The Theory of Everything, and Timothy Spall - Mr Turner.
