For many years America’s most popular conservative authors have decried “liberal bias” at The New York Times while gladly accepting the prestige of a place on the newspaper’s bestseller list. Ann Coulter, Dinesh D’Souza and Mark Levin are all described on their book covers as New York Times bestselling authors.

Now, however, their publishing house is leading a revolt against the list, claiming that it demotes books by right-wing writers in favour of liberal works. Marji Ross, president of Regnery, said the publisher would “sever ties” with The New York Times bestseller list and no longer recognise its rankings in its book marketing and in contracts with authors.
