“Oldest Rolls-Royce” predates famous union

Sir, It is quite likely that the car described as the oldest Rolls-Royce built in 1904 is, in fact, a Royce car (report, Oct 18).

The agreement between Royce Ltd and C. S. Rolls and Company to supply C. S. Rolls with cars bearing the name of Rolls-Royce was dated December 23, 1904 (Harold Nockolds’s The Magic of a Name) so the first Rolls-Royce cars were made in 1905.
