Race hate activist given four months

A BNP activist was jailed for four months yesterday for attempting to incite racial hatred in Pollokshields, Glasgow, home to Scotland’s largest Muslim community.

David Wilson, 31, was convicted of delivering inflammatory leaflets last July, shortly after the race riots in England. In them he claimed that the police were doing nothing to stop “militant Muslims” from attacking whites and told householders that the violence would get worse.

Sheriff Linda Ruxton said: “Your conduct struck in the heart of a peaceful community and tried to destabilise the effort put into race relations in Pollokshields.”

Wilson was a member of the far-right British National Party when he formed Families Against Immigrant Racism to distribute the leaflets.
