Roger Federer produced a stunning display to rout Robin Soderling and cruise into the semi-finals of the Shanghai Rolex Masters today.
The Swiss master beat Soderling, the world No 5, 6-1, 6-1 to join Novak Djokovic, the Serb, and Andy Murray in the last four. Juan Monaco, of Argentina, is also through to the penultimate round after beating Jurgen Melzer.
None of the three leading players has lost a set yet in the tournament, with Djokovic, the world No 2, dropping only 13 games in three matches, Murray 15 games, and Federer 16 games.
Soderling’s fourteenth defeat in 15 matches against Federer was his worst, and it was his heaviest defeat since April 2009 when the Swede took only one game off Rafael Nadal at
