A British tourist has died in Tenerife after allegedly stealing a car on the first day of his holiday.

The man, believed to be aged 30, is said to have injured a woman as he drove off with her Mitsubishi in the resort of Costa Adeje before crashing it on the motorway and trying to steal two more vehicles.

He was found dead on a roundabout last night, the Spanish newspaper Diario de Avisos reported. Police are investigating the cause of death.
