Robbie Henshaw looks likeliest to reclaim his place in Joe Schmidt’s side against Italy this weekend, ahead of Chris Farrell and Garry Ringrose, the other centres recovering from injury.

While Farrell, who was taken off as a precautionary measure during Munster’s win over the Southern Kings last Friday, returned to Ireland’s camp yesterday, it is Henshaw who is in pole position to start alongside Bundee Aki. Ringrose’s hamstring injury and Farrell’s knee problem will continue to be monitored but sources have indicated that Henshaw, who missed the 23-12 win over Scotland, is further along the road to recovery.
