Sport of Kings leaves Andy Murray in awe

Andy Murray is not a man to be awe-struck, especially by something he admits he doesn't understand. But the Scot's first taste of horse racing left him wide-eyed and keen to learn more.

Murray took time out from his preparations for the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships to spend an evening at the £1.75 billion Meydan racecourse that opened recently. "You have to say it's pretty impressive," was Murray's description as he gazed at the six-furlongs long grandstand, which can accommodate 98,000 racegoers.

"Horse racing is one sport I don't really know very much about," said Murray, who was introduced to jockeys Kieren Fallon and Frankie Dettori in the parade ring before watching both romp home on winners - Fallon on the Luca Cumani-trained Drunken Sailor
