The financial restructuring that has allowed Aberdeen to all but wipe out their £15 million debt has put a spring in the step of Stewart Milne, their chairman.

That he and Aberdeen Asset Management agreed to wave loans to the club in return for almost ten million shares and that Willie and Elaine Donald, an Aberdeenshire couple who run a civil engineering and construction company, chipped in with what is thought to be £3 million to reduce the debt to less than £200,000, made the club’s annual meeting a happy one.
