The 20 best restaurants with rooms

Great food, exciting wine and, absolutely no arguments about who’s driving home — here are our picks

1. Kota, Helston, Cornwall
There’s no point coming all the way to the tip of Cornwall and not going overboard on fresh fish. And your best bet is Kota, where the residents of Padstow go when they want a treat. Kota means shellfish in Maori — the chef, Jude Kereama, is a Kiwi, and he blends the influences from his Maori, Chinese and Malay heritage to create spectacular seafood with an Asian twist. There are only two rooms, functional rather than funky, but with great views over Helston harbour and its horseshoe bay. And there’s home-smoked salmon for breakfast.
